What's included
The kitchen and bathroom are
shared with two other rooms. During the winter there is greater
vacancy which means that one (or even both) room that shares the facilities
may be unoccupied.
Telephone service: Phones can be turned on quickly and cheaply. However, you must have the service in your name. Depending upon your income level, service hook-up fee is either $10 (low income - under $20,000/year) or $35 for regular service. Alternatively, you can obtain cell phone service. If you want DSL, you must set up up own service - using the room's phone line.
Cleaning service: Residents wash their own linen and clean up after their use of the kitchen and bathroom. (Residents who leave dishes and don't clean after use of the bath are charged a cleaning fee. If they persist in untidiness, then they are asked to move elsewhere. This is rare.)
Message Service: You must make arrangements for getting messages. These generally include voice mail (you don't have to have a phone, you can call in to get your messages), arrangements at your job site and arrangements with local friends.
